Connect Dandy to your AI

Setup, sign-in and your first prompts

Dandy keeps a live map of the software your AI builds: what each part is supposed to do, and what depends on it. Your AI reads it before it changes anything and keeps it current as it works, so the app still does what you meant in month two, not just on day one.

Using the Claude app

  1. In the Claude app, open Settings, then Connectors.
  2. Click Add connector.
  3. Enter this URL:
    https://api.dandylabs.dev/mcp

The first time you use Dandy, Claude asks you to sign in.

Before your AI builds anything, ask it to plan the work in Dandy first.

Signing in

Dandy signs you in with Google or Microsoft. Use the same email you used at checkout, so Claude connects to your own workspace. You will see a Dandy page asking you to approve access for your organization; approve it and you're back in Claude, connected.

Dandy never sees your Google or Microsoft password. To disconnect, remove Dandy from Claude's connector settings; a workspace admin can also revoke it in Dandy under Access, Connected apps.

Developers: Claude Code, Cursor, Codex

Dandy talks to your agent over MCP (Model Context Protocol). Any MCP client that speaks Streamable HTTP can add it with the same URL.

Claude Code

claude mcp add dandy --transport http https://api.dandylabs.dev/mcp

Cursor (~/.cursor/mcp.json)

{"mcpServers":{"dandy":{"url":"https://api.dandylabs.dev/mcp"}}}

Codex (~/.codex/config.toml)

[mcp_servers.dandy]
url = "https://api.dandylabs.dev/mcp"

The first time you use it, your agent asks you to sign in and authorize access to your organization, the same Google or Microsoft sign-in as above.

So you don't have to repeat yourself every session, put this one rule where your agent reads its standing instructions (CLAUDE.md, AGENTS.md or a Cursor rule):

Plan in Dandy before writing code: for any multi-step change, read the product graph first (list_products, get_product), create or update the plan there before editing files, keep node statuses honest as you work, and record what you learn on the node that owns it.

Type it, don't paste it. Some email filters and chat clients rewrite links. If the URL in your connector settings starts with anything other than api.dandylabs.dev, retype it by hand.

Per-agent config files for Copilot and Claude Desktop are on the getting-started page.

Try these first

  • Plan a booking site for a hair salon in Dandy before writing any code

    Your AI lays out what the app has to do and how the parts connect, before it builds.

  • What does my app do when a subscription is cancelled?

    An answer from what your app is supposed to do, not a guess from the code.

  • Add a tips field to invoices and show me what else has to change

    Everything that depends on invoices, listed before anything is edited.
